1. Why We Verify Age

Charon requires every Client to be 18 or older, and Illinois law prohibits tattooing a minor. Rather than take your word for it, we verify your age using a government-issued ID before you can complete a booking.

2. Who Actually Sees Your ID

Your ID is scanned and verified by Stripe Identity, an identity-verification provider Charon uses for this specific purpose. Charon does not receive, view, or store a copy of your ID or any biometric data extracted from it. Charon receives only a verification result — confirmed, not confirmed, or unable to verify — and a reference number for that check. Stripe's own privacy policy, available at stripe.com/privacy, governs how they handle the ID image and any data extracted from it, including how long they retain it.

3. What Happens If Verification Fails

If Stripe Identity cannot confirm you're 18 or older — whether because of the ID provided, image quality, or any other reason — you won't be able to complete a booking until it's resolved. You can retry the check directly from your dashboard. If it continues to fail, you can reach out to Charon directly and a real person will review it — there's no separate automated appeal, just a human looking at what went wrong.

4. What We Store on Our Side

Charon retains only: whether you're verified, the date of verification, and Stripe Identity's reference ID for that check. We do not retain your ID number, photo, date of birth as extracted from the ID, or any other data from the document itself — that stays with Stripe Identity, governed by their policy, not ours.

5. Signature

By checking the box presented with this document, you consent to Charon using Stripe Identity to verify your age via a government-issued ID before you can book. Charon records the exact version of this document, the time, and your account at the moment you agree.
